If you’ve ever felt like stress is just part of the job in medicine—you’re not alone.

Long hours. High-stakes decisions. Emotional weight. It’s easy to feel like burnout is inevitable.

But what if stress didn’t have to dim your spark?

In this week’s blog, you'll discover three science-backed strategies that actually work for physicians:

✅ Reframe stress as a signal for growth—not a threat
✅ Set boundaries without guilt or burnout backlash
✅ Reconnect with your “why” to fuel resilience and fulfillment

Whether you're in residency, navigating burnout, or exploring a new path—these tools help you reclaim control over your mindset, energy, and direction.

Self-Coaching Reflection: 5-Minute Reset

 Map Your Stress Triggers

1️⃣ Identify:

Jot down 3 recent situations where stress felt overwhelming.
(Examples: EMR backlog, a tough patient interaction, team tension)

2️⃣ Analyze:
Did your reaction align with your values—or was it driven by fear, fatigue, or frustration?

3️⃣ Rewrite:

Choose one of those stressors. How will you respond differently next time?
Example: “Instead of ruminating after clinic, I’ll pause, name the emotion, and take 5 deep breaths.”

Medical students are truly amazing. We have student...

When Winning Isn’t the Point (But You Win Anyway)
This week, Katie Ledecky,  the most decorated female swimmer in history,  did the “impossible.” At 28, she won the 800-meter freestyle at the World Championships, outperforming 18-year-old phenom Summer McIntosh. This was her seventh world title in the event, and she’s the only woman to win the same individual race at four consecutive Olympics.   Most people don't pay attention to swimming o...
