Step 1: Reflect on Your Values
Take a few minutes to jot down what matters most to you—both professionally and personally. Consider questions like:
  • What do I want to be remembered for in my career?
  • What personal achievements bring me the most joy?
Step 2: Identify Small Wins

Using the LEGACY Method, break down your big goals into tiny, actionable steps. For example:

  • Goal:  Improve patient
  • Micro-Action: Take one deep breath before entering each patient’s room.
Step 3: Set a SMART Goal

Transform a vague aspiration into a Specific, Measurable, Achievable, Relevant, and Time-bound objective.
Instead of: “I’ll reduce stress.”
Try: “I will practice 5 minutes of mindfulness three mornings per week for the next month."

Laugh a Little: Remember, even Rome wasn’t built in a day—and neither are your resolutions!

Celebrate those tiny victories along the way.

Medical students are truly amazing. We have student...

When Winning Isn’t the Point (But You Win Anyway)
This week, Katie Ledecky,  the most decorated female swimmer in history,  did the “impossible.” At 28, she won the 800-meter freestyle at the World Championships, outperforming 18-year-old phenom Summer McIntosh. This was her seventh world title in the event, and she’s the only woman to win the same individual race at four consecutive Olympics.   Most people don't pay attention to swimming o...
